  • An ADS FREE social platform that allows you to discover places and activities based upon your individual tastes and preferences
Are you travelling too often? If you’re not, then probably it is one of your goals or dreams I’ve might say. Today, tourism and travel industry is the game-changer of world economy worth about 8.31 Trillion USD in total distribution, statistics from 2016–2018.

The Problem

As we travel, we tend to use the internet for most actions we’d take, like for example, booking a ticket, searching places for your itinerary, search for different reviews and insights about the place, finding more about the place’s culture and many more. All done through using the internet but nothing at the same place at the same time.
There is no such exact solution for the problem and I could say that, that is what bmy.guide is aiming to solve.

Let me show you some example of the platform most of tourists spend their time searching, getting ideas on where to travel next.

Instagram — With this large user based platform, people posts great places, tourist spots, great food to visit but lacks on detailed information to share. The platform also is used more for promotion and advertisements meaning the original thought of sharing experience and passion is gone and is only created for mere entertainment.

Instagram is a grain of salt for those tourist/travelers if they are on search for the next place to visit.
Airbnb — Airbnb helps a lot for those people who are booking comfortable places in the most cheaper price compared to hotel accommodation. It’s a marketplace for tourists whose looking for next place to sleep but not essentially to visit as it’s always the people and the location a great factor why tourist travel from one place to another.

Youtube and Buzzfeed — Probably you are one of those people who loves to watch vlogs and reviews about places your favorite creator post right? I could say this is one of the most entertaining and resourceful way to use the internet, to somehow travel while at your own home LOL. Personally I am astonished by the places and contents delivered that makes me want to visit the place like it’s created for a promotion, I bet not, I could say that creators only wants to share their experiences.

One thing I find missing is that viewers can’t actually travel as you are only seeing the In-person experience but not the actual experience that could get you to a plane and fly into that specific place right?

Crowded and incomplete information, hopping from one platform to another is a tedious task but is necessarily to get done because of this main reason, to enjoy your travel. Nothing beats the experience of smooth sailing vacation, in reverse, a messy itinerary and miscalculations due to wrong information could result into a disaster or worse.

I think it’s more of social interaction between tourist/travelers is the tool tip missing. If there is only an instagram that rewards users not by popularity but monetarily, if there is a new Airbnb to evaluate and rate what the actual place could be so people could happily take their trip, if only we could get dedicated reviews about places, there might be certain changes about our decision making, creating a new world of social media not just for promotion but also for connection.

The Solution

I bumped into this project and I think their goal is the nearest solution for the stated problems above. Though their project ain’t launched yet, the development is already up and running for about 8 months already so we could see upside and ready-to-use platform real soon.

Overview of the Travel and tourismry indust

What is the tourism industry?

Tourism is generally regarded as the act of travelling to a different location, for either business or plesure purposes.
it has quite a specefic definition: the act of travelling to another environment, for at least 24 hours, but for no longer than one year, for purposes ralated to business or leisure.
A tourist is generally classed as such if he stays overnight on the location he travels to.
By its very nature, tourism involves a round trip, rather than travel in one direction only.
With this in mind, the tourism industry refers to all aspects of the service industry that cater to tourists.

With no objection, this project I could say is a breather not only for aspiring travelers/tourists but also for those making a living with their travel content. This platform could help best of both sides whether they’re a full beginner whose looking for tips and recommendations from the one’s who’ve been in the sphere for quite a long time.
